For my booklets, I have decided to use Garamond font. I think it is clean and I like how it looks in the book's format. I will be separating chapters by a single page that has a sans serif font, something simple and modern. I decided to do my booklets on James, Ephesians and Philippians. I am using the ESV translation as it is open source and one of my favorite versions of the Bible. I will be using a dark brown cover-weight paper for my cover, and I have decided to write in white ink each name of the books of the Bible in Greek (or Hebrew, depending on which I like the look best for this project).

For my spread project, I have decieded to do a series of posters from the movie "Up". I have not decided on typeface, but I know that I want to model the poster off of these three photos from the movie: Poster 1: Poster 2: Poster 3: For the first poster, I want to relay the theme of family and adventure. I plan to have the character's outlined as a silhouette and the balloons on the house create out of type. For the second poster, I think that this photo of the house finding it's final resting place on the cliff represents the entire premise of the movie. I plan to make the cliff out of text, and the house a silhouette.  And finally for the third poster, I plan to recreate the mailbox in the photo I used above, to represent the love story of the movie. 

For my project, I'd like to keep simple and timeless typography and style in mind. Clean, beige, white, or grey covers, with neat and simple text. I did not have a chance to scan the page of the book I was taking some inspiration from, but I will include a few photos below for reference on the style I am going for. I really enjoy the way the type looks on these pages. They make the whole book more interesting visually, as well as adding an artistic element to text which can be easily overlooked.

For my magazine spread remake, I chose this spread from Photographer's Forum Magazine.  I found the project a great learning experience, as I was able to dive into a lot of features of InDesign.  It was also an interesting task to find a font that was the same or similar to the original magazine's font, as this is not something I have attempted to do before. Below is my final spread finished.

Created from Andale mono font, this letter "P" is an air plant and succulent planter. Made with popsicle sticks, floral foam, real dried moss, and artificial succulents, this project was intended to look like a hanging succulent planter, with the succulents growing out of the shape of the letter. I chose to photograph the planter in the most likely environments for a hanging planter (hanging on the wall) as well as with another succulent in the cactus and in a place as random as sitting on the floor next to a dog. Overall fashioning the "P" into a planter was not as challenging as it was time consuming. Carving the popsicle sticks into as much of a curve as possible was difficult without the proper tools (I mostly used scissors and a hunting pocket knife). While the font Andale mono was simple, perhaps a more boxy font would have been an easier choice. Overall, I was very please with how the project turned out. 

For my letter "P", I chose the font Andale Mono. I chose this font due to the clean lines, and I thought the project I had in mind would be most successful with a less detailed typeface. Here are the supplies I used for my project:  1. Small balsa wood pieces that would make the bottom of the planter of the "P".  2. Floral foam to stick air plants, succulents, and moss into/on  3. Sand paper for rough edges  4. Hot glue  5. Moss  6. Fake succulents and air plants I then laid out the wood backing in the way I planned to hot glue them together. After hot gluing the pieces together, I used popsicle sticks to re-enforce the joint of the "P". I then cut the floral foam to fit the backing of the planter, about 2" thick. The edges of the foam was then shaved down with a knife to make a smoother edge for the curves of the "P". After cutting the wood backing with a saw, I sanded the edges down to make them more rou...
